PPrintWhat

Why PrintWhat exists

People need outcomes, not file formats.

3D model sites, designers and manufacturers each solve a different part of the journey. PrintWhat starts with the object or problem and helps the request move between those resources without asking the customer to diagnose the route first.

See how a request works

Search before creating

Existing work can be faster and less wasteful. We look for it first and send customers to the original source.

Expose the gaps

A promising title or image is not proof of fit. We preserve uncertainty instead of converting it into a confidence claim.

Respect creators and rights

Sources, licenses and permitted use remain part of the decision. PrintWhat does not rehost model files.

Route globally, decide locally

A request can begin anywhere. The eventual designer or manufacturer is chosen against the actual scope, destination and constraints.

The operating principle

The simplest valid route should win.

If an existing model meets the brief and its license allows the intended use, that is usually better than commissioning a duplicate. If a near match can be responsibly adapted, the modification should be scoped. Only when neither works should the request become a new design.

Physical production comes after the geometry and intended use are understood. PrintWhat therefore remains open to plastic, resin, metal and non-additive routes instead of treating one machine or process as the product.

Human review is intentional at launch. Search systems can surface evidence; they cannot infer every hidden dimension, duty cycle, license restriction or safety consequence from a few words.
